Not Just Refugees: Poland Calculates How Much Ukrainians Add to Its Economy
Ukrainians play a notable role in the development of the Polish economy. Their labor and entrepreneurial activity is estimated to account for about 2.7% of Poland’s GDP growth.
As Delo.ua writes, this was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland on the social network X.
According to the Polish foreign policy ministry, the employment rate among Ukrainians in the country reached 78% in 2024.
“Ukrainians are not merely finding shelter in Poland — they are actively contributing to the development of the Polish economy,” the Polish Foreign Ministry emphasized.
The ministry emphasized that behind the statistical figures are real stories of business development and innovation creation.
“We are not merely neighbors — together, we are building a stronger future,” the Polish Foreign Ministry concluded.
Ukrainians account for nearly 68% of foreign workers in Poland
It should be noted that Ukrainians remain the key foreign workforce for the Polish economy. As of the end of January 2026, 757,700 Ukrainian citizens were officially working in the country — nearly 68% of all employed foreign nationals. The total number of foreign workers meanwhile exceeded 1.1 million people, 7.1% more than a year earlier.
According to data from the center of the international employment company Gremi Personal, the majority of Ukrainian workers are traditionally employed in logistics, the services sector, manufacturing, construction and transport — sectors where the labor shortage is persistent.
At the same time, analysts note that Ukrainians are increasingly refusing unskilled positions and choosing employers that offer social guarantees and opportunities for professional development rather than merely short-term employment.
