44 people were injured after a train derailed in northwestern France
44 people were injured, one of them critically, when a passenger train partially derailed in the Seine-Maritime department in northwestern France on Friday evening, French newspaper Le Figaro reported.
The train, carrying 180 passengers on the Rouen–Caen route, derailed near the commune of Cléon in the Seine-Maritime department, French Transport Minister Philippe Tabarot said on the broken Twitter.
According to the minister, around 140 firefighters were dispatched to the scene to assist those injured and the other passengers.
He added that emergency services and local authorities were coordinating rescue operations together with France’s state railway operator SNCF.
