Former Belarus national team goaltender Alexander Gavrilenok confirmed the detention of his son Alexei, who is suspected of murdering a pregnant woman from Minsk, reports Betting Insider.

“I don’t know any more than you do so far; I’m not in Minsk, and I read the news on the internet. Yes, Alexei has been detained, no charges have been brought yet, and an investigation is underway. I hope for some kind of miracle—perhaps it’s a mistake or something else… How can one feel in such a situation? You understand—very badly,” Alexander Gavrilenok said.

The murder of pregnant Tatyana Martishchenko became known on September 11—she had been searched for since September 8. On September 12, the publication Tribuna, citing its sources, reported that Alexei Gavrilenok had been detained in connection with the case. He had been in a close relationship with Tatyana and was the father of her child.
