Historic victory: Moldova’s national team became Balkan table tennis champions
The Moldovan men's table tennis team has won the Balkan championship title in the senior category for the first time in history. The tournament was held in Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
According to the Moldovan Table Tennis Federation, the team consisted of Vladislav Ursu, Andrei Puțuntică, and Cezar Cozmolici, while the national team's coach is Veniamin Dubrovin.
On their way to the gold medals, the Moldovan athletes confidently defeated North Macedonia (3–0) and Kosovo (3–0) in the group stage, then beat Romania 3–1 in the semifinal.
In the final, the Moldovan team defeated Serbia 3–2 in a tense encounter. The winner was decided only in the fifth match.
The federation called the achievement a “historic title” and noted that the victory was a source of pride for the entire Republic of Moldova.
