BelAZ may open an assembly plant in Mongolia

BelAZ plans to establish a heavy-equipment assembly plant in Mongolia. The information agency “Finmarket” reports this, citing Mongolian media.

In the near term, the parties will study the technical and economic aspects of the project. The plant is of greatest value to large Mongolian mining companies. BelAZ equipment is used in Mongolia in open-pit mining operations and at mineral deposits, including coal mines and sites in the Gobi Desert. An official dealer and representative of the Belarusian manufacturer, United Belaz Machinery, operates in the local market.

Mongolia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Gongoryn Damdinnyam emphasized that establishing an assembly facility would increase the number of jobs, preserve tax revenues, and create an opportunity to manufacture some parts and spare parts in Mongolia.
