Not Europe, but Muscovy must pay for the aggression against Ukraine, — Latvia’s prime minister

We need to change the narrative: Muscovy is waging war not against Ukraine, but against the West, the UN and NATO. This is evidenced by attacks taking place on the borders with EU countries. Illegal migration is one of the threats faced by the Baltic states. Its organizer is the Kremlin, which acts through Belarus via certain criminal groups. And it is Muscovy that must pay for the war against Ukraine. This was stated today, August 24, after the conclusion of the “coalition of the willing” meeting by Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs, reports FREEДОМ.

According to him, in this way Muscovy is testing the Baltic countries’ ability to repel such attacks, specifically their technical capabilities and response time.

“And this has already been happening for five years. It began even before the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. This year, starting this month, we are organizing the full-scale operation of all our capabilities for a month in order to get rid of this problem,” Kulbergs said.

He also cited cyberattacks and potential interference in the political process and elections in countries as examples of threats from Muscovy.

“We are facing these threats. But Muscovy does not realize that they have only made us stronger together. They have made NATO stronger. Now Sweden and Finland have joined NATO. And everything happened exactly the opposite way from what they wanted,” the prime minister noted.

In his view, Muscovy must pay for its brutal attacks.

“We need to agree to use Muscovite frozen assets—not the money of EU citizens, but the frozen assets of Muscovy—to pay this bill. The bill is very high, substantial; it is a significant amount of money. Money that must be paid. Why should EU citizens pay this entire bill? It is the Muscovites who must pay it. Two hundred billion is available to pay this bill. And the price, as Mr. Zelensky just noted, is extraordinary, very high. And we need to take this burden off our shoulders, and it is easy to do,” Kulbergs said confidently.

He emphasized that Europe gives Muscovy the opportunity to earn money with which the Kremlin fuels its military operations. This must be stopped.

“Sanctions are working, but we need to insist on them and implement them. Liquefied gas is still being purchased; all of this is happening, and the Strait of Hormuz enables the economy of Muscovite territory to exist. And all of this leads to the creation of missiles that later end up on the territory of Ukraine. We are paying this bill, and we see that certain spare parts in these missiles still originate from Western countries. We need to completely stop the supply and sale of such spare parts to Muscovite territory so that we ourselves do not ultimately provide such urgently needed support. We need to help Ukraine shoot down not only the missiles themselves, but also the launchers from which they are fired. That would be more effective,” the prime minister of Latvia stressed.

In addition, he called for Muscovy to be barred from international sports and cultural venues.
