An explosion occurred at an ammunition depot in Azerbaijan
A powerful fire broke out.
On the night of September 2, an explosion occurred at an ammunition depot in the Goranboy District in western Azerbaijan, near the settlement of Nizami. The incident caused a major fire accompanied by a series of detonations, forcing residents of nearby settlements to be evacuated. The ARA agency reports this.ARA.
According to a joint statement by Azerbaijan’s ministries of emergency situations, defense, and internal affairs, a fire broke out at the site of the explosion, but no local residents were injured. For safety reasons, about 5,000 people were evacuated from areas adjacent to the site.
Later, Seymur Nazarov, the first deputy head of the executive authority of Goranboy District, Seymur Nazarov reported that the explosion did not affect residential buildings in neighboring villages—the information about damage to residential areas as a result of the incident has not been confirmed.
