Ukraine’s legislation is to be rewritten, says Verkhovna Rada Speaker Stefanchuk — to remove Rossianisms and Anglicisms and use standard language.
Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk said that a separate legislative act was being prepared that would change the terminology used in Ukrainian legislation. They want to remove Rossianisms and Anglicisms from the texts of laws and use normative language.
He spoke about this in Zhytomyr during a meeting held to present the work done on the new Civil Code of Ukraine.
According to the chairman of parliament, this concerns a separate legislative act that is intended to comprehensively update the terminology in Ukrainian laws. Before the relevant initiative is submitted, expert opinions are expected from the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine.
The document is intended to regulate not only the replacement of individual terms but also the rules for their proper use.
"We must stop writing Ukrainian laws either with Rossianisms or Anglicisms. It should be pure Ukrainian, understood by everyone. That is why we are working with many specialists in these matters", – Stefanchuk emphasized.
Special attention is also being paid to linguistic renewal during the preparation of the new Civil Code. Earlier, Stefanchuk said that its development involved work on updating legal language and consultations with linguistics specialists.
